We are hiring a WordPress Developer to join our development team. As a WordPress Developer at Alpinist Studios, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining WordPress websites and applications. You’ll work closely with our team to transform creative concepts into functional, user-friendly web solutions. Your role will involve both front-end and back-end development, ensuring our projects meet the highest quality standards and deliver exceptional user experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the web development team to design, develop, and maintain websites and features.
- Build WordPress sites using modern page builders—primarily Elementor—while adhering to design specs and performance best practices.
- Use custom CSS, HTML, and JavaScript to extend or override page builder limitations when needed.
- Implement global design systems and templates within the page builder environment to ensure consistency across site pages.
- Develop with a modular mindset—reusing components and global styles to maintain scalability and ease of maintenance.
- Optimize front-end performance within page builder constraints (lazy loading, asset optimization, minimal DOM bloat).
- When necessary, write clean, efficient, well-documented code following established standards and best practices.
- Participate in site reviews (often done via screencast) to ensure quality, adherence to standards, and knowledge sharing among team members.
- Work closely with other developers, team members, and designers to implement responsive and visually appealing user interfaces.
- Troubleshoot and debug layout, styling, and interaction issues across browsers and Devices.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in web development and recommend improvements to our development ecosystem.
- Assist in the maintenance and improvement of existing websites.
- Construct all pages according to the Web Development Standards and Development Process, following the provided design guidelines and layouts.
- Collaborate with the team to submit completed pages for review and implement feedback as necessary.
- Implement basic SEO practices on each page, including meta descriptions, focus keywords, and preview images.
- Coordinate with the team to launch sites, update DNS records, and run DB Migrate Pro to ensure URL consistency.
- Manage hosting accounts and our clients (as necessary).
- Manage WordPress, theme, and plugin updates for all client websites.
- Follow and help improve our development ecosystem, standards, and practices.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of website optimization, speed performance, and SEO best practices.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience developing WordPress websites.
- Excellent knowledge of Object-Oriented PHP and MySQL.
- Hands-on experience with WordPress themes, custom plugins, and page builders (e.g., Elementor, WPBakery, Gutenberg).
- Familiarity with REST APIs and third-party API integrations.
- Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery.
- Ability to troubleshoot, debug, and maintain existing WordPress sites.
- Experience with cross-browser compatibility and responsive design.
- Understanding of security best practices for WordPress sites.
- Knowledge of Laravel or other PHP frameworks will be an added advantage.
- Must have excellent English communication skills (written and spoken).
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with designers, content creators, and project managers.
