Alpinist Studios is a digital engineering studio in Lalitpur serving founders and enterprises in North America and beyond. We build MVPs, staff dedicated teams, and ship production software with less overhead and greater agility.
Core Responsibilities
Cross-Product Delivery
- Pair as the second delivery unit alongside our principal engineer, taking on vertical slices as they come up across either product
- Context-switch cleanly between codebases and domains without needing a dedicated ramp- up period for each switch
- Flag when a slice is bigger than its spec accounted for, rather than quietly absorbing scope creep
Front-End
- Build React and Next.js product interfaces: dashboards, onboarding flows, multi-step workflow UIs, and data-rich report views
- Translate design specs into pixel-accurate, responsive components, working within each product’s existing component library
- Manage client/server state using React Server Components, Zustand, or equivalent
Back-End
- Design and implement RESTful, GraphQL, or tRPC APIs in TypeScript (Node.js), with typed boundaries and validation (e.g. Zod) at every entry point
- Integrate third-party APIs: Stripe, LLM providers (OpenAI, Anthropic), panel providers, and communication platforms
- Author database migrations and write efficient queries against PostgreSQL, respecting each product’s existing schema and access patterns
DevOps & Quality
- Work within existing CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) and deploy to Cloudflare Pages/Workers or Vercel
- Write tests against the spec you shipped against, not just the happy path
- Use structured logging and existing error tracking (e.g. Sentry) to leave each slice observable, not just working
Required Skills & Experience
MUST-HAVES
- 5+ years of full-stack engineering experience with TypeScript across client and server (no JavaScript-only candidates)
- Strong working knowledge of React and Next.js (App Router, RSC, Server Actions)
- Production Node.js back-end experience, PostgreSQL/Supabase, and RESTful, GraphQL, or tRPC API design
- Comfort shipping against a written spec end to end, front end through back end, without needing the work broken down further
- A genuine generalist streak: recent, real experience moving across more than one codebase or product rather than owning a single surface long-term
- Daily fluency with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent), with the judgment to review and validate what they produce
- Solid CI/CD fundamentals and familiarity with Cloudflare or Vercel deployment
- Strong async written communication: proposals, specs, PRs, and async standups are how we work
NICE TO HAVE
- Direct experience with OpenSpec or a similar proposal-to-spec-to-code discipline (Shape Up, RFC-driven development, or comparable)
- LLM API integration: prompt chaining, streaming responses, embedding generation, or RAG patterns
- React Native or Expo experience with at least one shipped mobile app
- Prior work at an early-stage startup, agency, or as a solo technical founder, where switching
